How skiing with activ4 can support the national curriculum ...

  • The curriculum and activ4 snowsports can work side by side in matters of physical, sporting, mental and social student development.
  • Helfpul advice is available in a booklet 'Skiing and the National Curriculum' which can be ordered by calling 0121 501 2314
  • Group outings to local indoor and outdoor ski slopes: due to a downturn in visitors during school hours most snow centres encourage group visits from students

Useful Contacts:

Teacher Training

Snowsport England offers two opportunities for teachers to train to be Snowsports Course Organisers (SCO) and Alpine Ski Course Leaders (ASCL). The former takes only 6 hours to complete, the latter involves 6 days of training completed at a foreign resort and applicant must be qualified first-aiders who have several weeks' ski experience and have already completed the SCO course.

Booking an overseas ski tour with activ4

Early planning is essential and snowschools get booked up early. Consider booking during term time due to lower off-peak prices and to avoid queues on slopes and instructors being tied up with other learners. Ensure the resort and lessons are appropriate to the skill level of the students. Experience activ4 travel co-ordinators will be able to advise you in the best choice of venue and resort.

Make sure the company is ABTA and ATOL registered

activ4 is fully ABTA and ATOL bonded, but with an array of industry logos it can be difficult to know what each represents. At present, if you are flying your operator should have an Air Travel Organisers' Licence (ATOL) which protects all flights and air packages. The Association of British Travel Agents (ABTA) oblige its members to follow a strict code of conduct.

Inspection Visits

As a reputable tour operator, activ4 offers a programme of resort inspection visits, which many Local Education Authorities insist upon. These are a great opportunity for both client and operator to get together and review what the resorts, hotels and amenities have to offer. From the Party Leaders point of view it will put your mind at ease that you have chosen the correct environment for your group and allow you to speak confidently to management, staff and parents when they ask questions.
